Grammy Awards 2023 : Samara Joy honorée lors de la cérémonie, Beyoncé bat un record

Dans la nuit du dimanche 5 février au lundi 6 février s'est tenue la 65e cérémonie des Grammy Awards qui récompenses les meilleurs artistes de l'année écoulée. Si Beyoncé a fait sensation en remportant quatre catégories pour devenir l'artiste la plus titré des Grammy devant le chef d'orchestre classique Sir Georg Solti, qui a remporté 31 Grammys entre 1963 et 1998, il est à noter que les catégories Jazz, Gospel, Blues, Soul ont elles-aussi couronné de talentueux artistes.

La talentueuse chanteuse qui excelle à la fois dans le jazz et la soul, Samara Joy, a été récompensée deux fois au cours de la soirée. Elle a en effet remporté le prix de la meilleure nouvelle artiste 2023 mais aussi le Grammy du meilleur album de jazz vocal avec son dernier album "Linger Awhile". Le meilleur album jazz instrumental revient à Terry Lyne Carrington pour '"New Standards Vol. 1" tandis que le prix du meilleur album jazz latino a été décerné à Arturo O'Farrill pur '"Fandango At The Wall In New York". Le Generation Gap Jazz Orchestra remporte quant à lui l'Award du meilleur grand ensemble de jazz. Wayne Shorter & Leo Genovese ssont primés dans la catégorie Meilleur solo improvisé de jazz avec "Endangered Species".

Le Gospel a aussi été mis en valeur avec une récompense pour Maverick City Music & Kirk Franklin et leur projet "Kingdom" dont la particularité est d'avoir été en partie enregistré dans une prison de Miami. Ils sont d'ailleurs également couronné dans la catégorie Meilleur album de gospel. Le meilleur album de gospel roots a été décerné à un projet d'un orchestre d'une université, la Tennessee State University avec "The Urban Hymnal".

Les Grammy récompensent toutes les musiques, le blues n'a donc pas été oublié. Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway ont été couronné dans la catégorie Meilleur album de bluegrass avec "Crooked Tree". Le grammy du meilleur album de blues traditionnel est revenu à Taj Mahal & Ry Cooder pour "Get on Board" tandis que le Meilleur album de blues contemporain a été décerné à Edgar Winter pour son projet "Brother Johnny".
